International congress of Oral Implantology
https://www.icoi.org/advanced-credentialing/The largest world wide implant organization, the ICOI is active in 90 countries worldwide. It offers its members a chance to prove their knowledge and skillset by having their work evaluated and critiqued by the top doctors in implant dentistry.
– The first level of credentialing is called a Fellowship. Doctors must show proof of 100 hours of education in implant dentistry, submit 20 cases for review and show one year follow up of these cases to ensure they have been successful. But in addition to all of this they must also get a letter of recommendation from a current credentialed doctor.
– The next level is Mastership. Only doctors that have completed the Fellowship level can then apply for Mastership level. They need now to show 80 cases that have been in function for 2 years since they were completed, 150 hours of continued education in Implant dentistry, provide a letter of recommendation and present table top presentations at 2 conferences.
– The last level of excellence in credentialing is called the Diplomate. Again only doctors that have completed the Fellowship and Mastership from ICOI are eligible to apply for this level of credentialing. Here the doctor needs to show 120 Implant cases that have been in function for 3 years. These cases need to cover the full spectrum of implant dentistry in complexity and variety. The Credentialing committee needs to see that the doctor can handle any and all types of cases of any level of difficulty. They need to make sure that these complex cases have been not just restored but have remained successful for 3 years. in addition the doctor needs to show proof of 250 hours of continuing education in implant dentistry in all the different areas. present at 2 conferences. Take and pass a written examination and also appear for an in person oral examination where they are required to explain and defend their cases that they have submitted.
Doctor Khan has been an ICOI Diplomate since 2011. He has completed all three levels of credentialing with the ICOI. This was a completely voluntary exercise and is not required to practice implant dentistry. It shows how committed he is to excellence in his field.
The International Dental Implant Association:
https://internationaldentalimplantassociation.com/credentialing.phpThis is also an international implant organization that has similar criteria as the ICOI for credentialing. They offer the same 3 levels of credentials. Fellowship , mastership and Diplomate that doctors must gain step by step starting with the fellowship first then mastership and lastly the Diplomate status is awarded. Dr. Khan has completed all the 3 levels of credentials with the IDIA as well.
The Misch Resnik implant institute (Formerly the Misch International Implant Institute) Founded by Dr. Carl Misch in 1984 the Misch Internation Implant Institute serves as the premier institute for implant dentistry education worldwide. Dr. Carl Misch is regarded as the father of modern Implant dentistry and he literally wrote the book on the subject. His book Contemporary Implant Dentistry is considered required reading for any and all Implant education programs. The Institute offers the most in depth and comprehensive Implant dentistry education programs. Taking part in, and completing that educational training program is a challenge in and of itself. It is a very rigorous program and each session is loaded with information. Participants are required to do a lot of self study and are then tested with written exams throughout the course. Upon completion participants are awarded a Fellowship from the Misch Resnik Implant Institute. For the doctors that wish to attain the highest level of credentialing they can chose to take another detailed written exam, present cases throughout the continuum and then under go an oral examination where they are required to defend their submitted cases. Dr. Khan completed his Fellowship and Mastership with the Misch international Implant Institute in 2013.
Masters in Oral Implantology
https://www.goethe-dental-school.de/master-programs/moiDental Implants were invented in Europe. In his quest for learning Dr. Khan found a unique opportunity to gain the European perspective in Implant Dentistry by way of a Masters degree program offered by the Goethe University Dental School in Frankfurt Germany. A 2 year masters program that combined distance learning and in person course work. Dr. Khan was able to learn advanced bone and gum tissue regeneration techniques directly from the inventors in person. He was also exposed to the latest in 3D Digital implant Dentistry and was one of the first doctors in the US to start doing Digital 3D implant Dentistry in 2017.

Dental implants
You've lost a tooth, or perhaps several. Chewing is difficult and smiling, well it's too embarrassing. There is no question that the quality of your life has changed. Dental implants are the solution to renewing your smile, your chewing ability and quite frankly your quality of life.
Dr. Khan makes use of cutting edge technologies like ICAT CT scan, 3D intraoral and facial scanning technology and a fully digital workflow to create perfect custom smiles!
i-CAT® Cone Beam 3D Dental Imaging System, an advanced type of digital radiography provides us with a 3-dimensional digital image of your entire mouth, even areas that are not commonly visible to the human eye like the structures beneath your teeth and gums. The model even includes teeth roots and internal canals.Scans take only seconds, limiting your exposure to radiation. There is no doubt that this technology is a great improvement over standard x-rays.

The Advantages of i-CAT® Cone Beam 3D Dental Imaging
- i-CAT® Cone Beam 3D Dental Imaging System allows us to get a complete picture of the patient’s underlying bone and tissue when evaluating for dental implants.
- This state-of-the-art-technology shows a detailed, 3-dimensional cross section of the area being scanned offering the highest level of surgical predictability, resulting in successful surgical outcomes for patients.
- A quick and easy 20-second scan produces the most anatomically accurate 3-D images of the mouth, face, and jaw.
- Within minutes of the 3D scan, we are able to map an entire course of treatment from surgical placement of the implant and abutment, all the way to final restoration. We can thus offer our patients an immediate virtual diagnosis and treatment plan-all in one visit.
Reasons to Consider Dental Implants
When both the tooth and root are damaged, the best permanent replacement is a dental implant in conjunction with Zirconia crown. This solution both looks and functions just like a natural tooth.
What is a Dental Implant?
A dental implant is a small titanium screw that serves as the replacement for the root portion of a missing natural tooth. Dental implants can be placed in either the upper or lower jaws. Due to the biocompatible properties of titanium, a dental implant fuses with the bone and becomes a good anchor for the replacement tooth. Dental implants can be used in solutions for replacing single or multiple missing teeth.
Many people who consider implants have removable, conventional dentures for lower and upper jaws, or have removable bridges. These people experience a significant improvement in their ability to chew food comfortably after their dental implant treatment.
Is Old Age a Problem?
Occasionally, older patients express concern that their age may prevent them from enjoying the benefits of dental implants. However, health is more of a determining factor than age. If you’re healthy enough to have a tooth extracted, you’re probably healthy enough to receive dental implants. Certain chronic diseases may contraindicate dental implant treatment. The dentist will determine if you are a candidate for dental implants after a careful evaluation of your dental and health history.
How Will Dental Implants Affect My Life?
Dental implant-supported replacement teeth look, feel and function like natural teeth. This means that you can eat and drink whatever you choose. But most importantly, dental implants improve quality of life in a very concrete way. People who have felt embarrassed and worried because of their tooth problems are often overwhelmed by what new permanent teeth can do for their self-esteem.

The Dental Implant Procedure

At the first appointment, we use 3D Cone Beam bone is adequate to hold the titanium posts.

Within minutes of the 3D CT Scan, we are able to offer patients an immediate virtual diagnosis and treatment plan-all in one visit.

Treatment with dental implants requires meticulous planning for best results.

A surgical procedure is required (using local anesthetic and sedative) in which precision channels are created in the jawbone, often using a surgical guide. The implants are then fitted into the sites so that they are in contact with the bone. They generally require two to six months to fuse to the bone before they can have tooth restorations attached to them to complete the process.

Immediately – at the same time an implant is placed (or after a period of healing), an abutment is attached to the implant. This is a device that “abuts” or joins the implant to a tooth form called a crown, which replaces the tooth part you see in the mouth.

The custom crown is cemented or screwed onto the abutment to permanently keep it in place and should be indistinguishable from your natural teeth.
